According to Miriam Shaviv, four people were arrested by London Police including Rabbi Chaim Halpern, his brother, and a member of local shomrim. The charges include “perversion of justice” and it believed to be related to Halpern’s alleged sexual abuse of young women he counseled. Hopefully, this is the beginning of the end of a long bungled saga of cover-ups on behalf of Halpern.
Last month’s Channel 4 video showed how the British Haredi community obstructs justice and protects molesters. This police action sends an opposite message. According to Shaviv,
The London Metropolitan Police’s Barnet Borough Commander, Adrian Usher, said: “In Barnet, we are currently working with members of all our communities to ensure the voices of victims of abuse are heard. My message to those victims is simple: Come forward and we will listen to, support and believe you.”
