Survivors for Justice issued the following press release:
The New York Times’ Michael Powell reports on the shocking case of Samuel Kellner, a father whose quest for justice for his son led to his own indictment by Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes.
Kellner now faces 20 years in prison if convicted. This, after he helped Hynes prosecute a sexual abuse case against Rabbi Baruch Lebovitz, a prominent Brooklyn rabbi who was convicted of sexually abusing a 16-year-old.
The troubling case against Kellner is based upon information brought to DA Hynes by Meir Lebovits, the convicted child molester’s son.
I would add that for the first time, two highly respected Hasidic dayanim (rabbinical court judges) have explicitly told a secular newspaper reporter that they supported and continue to support Samuel Kellner in bringing victims of abuse to the District Attorney to testify against Baruch Mordechai Lebovits. Rabbi Gold was appointed Satmar dayan by the first Satmar Rebbe, Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum (Yoelish).
I suspect their public statment means that they will also testify on Kellner’s behalf if the DA is foolish enough to go ahead with a trial in July.
Definitely read this article by Michael Powell in the New York Times.
