QOTD: Qualifications for Seminary or Yeshiva Leadership

QOTD = Quote of the Day

Peninim al Hatorah brings the following; “He sent Yehudah ahead of him to Yosef, to prepare ahead of him in Goshen”. (46:28). Why Yehuda?
Rav Moshe Shternbuch Shlita [av beis din, Eidah Charedis], posits that it was Yehuda’s ability to be moser nefesh, his devotion to the point of self-sacrifice, that earned him the role of first Rosh Yeshivah. Yehuda was the brother who did not permit his brothers to leave Yosef in the pit, but rather insisted they sell him. He was the one that put his security aside and stood up to Yosef, after he came forward, and offered himself as an areiv, guarantor, for Binyamin. Yehudah seems to have had a reservoir of self-sacrifice. Yehudah guaranteed his father “I will return your son in no worse condition than you have entrusted him to me” a baal achrei’yus -A leader

    • Clearly, Shmuel Zalman Eidensohn cannot be objective about Rabbi Malinowitz. The two are the major haredi askanim in Beit Shemesh on everything from chesed organizations, to schools, to political campaigns for mayor. The two are among the inevitable top names on all such sorts of announcements. Thus I would consider it foolish for anyone to trust SZE for an objective assesment or reporting of facts. If RDE is indeed depending on his nephew he has made a serious error of judgment in shilling for his nephew and Malinowitz.

While RDE was busy attacking David Morris he avoided saying whether or not his nephew was his deep throat insider delivering all sorts of information and documents. If I were him and I wasn’t relying on my nephew, I would have made it a point to say it.

  1. Yerachmiel Lopin says: “…I would consider it foolish for anyone to trust SZE for an objective asses[s]ment or reporting of facts. If RDE is indeed depending on his nephew he has made a serious error of judgment in shilling for his nephew and Malinowitz.”
If this is in fact what’s been happening in this case, it would be sufficient to explain why RDE is irrationally publicly self-destructing over this issue.
As RDE himself writes (apparently oblivious to the potential self-description) in his “Full Disclosure”:
“He is also very intelligent and sincere – but like all of us has issues where his emotion blinds his rational thought. One of them is Rav Malinowitz and anything connected with him.”
